Todo esfuerzo tiene su recompensa. En el caso del Instituto Arzobispo Valdés-Salas la recompensa se ha visto traducida en galardón. El centro acaba de lograr el tercer premio del concurso «Marta Mata» a la calidad de la educación, concedido por el Ministerio de Educación y Participación Social. Esta distinción es el mejor regalo de aniversario para un instituto que este año celebra sus cuarenta años de vida.
La lista de proyectos que se desarrollan en el Instituto de Salas desde hace una década es interminable. Ésta ha sido su mejor baza para consolidar su matrícula, en la actualidad cuenta con 250 alumnos, en un concejo con una población muy envejecida. «Nuestro alumnado tiene dificultades para acceder al conocimiento de las lenguas extranjeras, para usar las nuevas tecnologías de la información y de la comunicación, de ahí que sea imprescindible ofertar un conjunto de actividades que contribuyan a atenuar los desequilibrios», explica Ángel de la Fuente, director del instituto.
En el proyecto que presentaron al concurso, se detallaron concienzudamente las 14 acciones en las que participa el instituto desde el año 2000. Entre ellas destacan sus desayunos saludables, el programa de apertura de centros a la comunidad, la sección bilingüe en lengua francesa, el intercambio con el centro BBSV de la Baja Sajonia o el proyecto Comenius. «Los objetivos de estas iniciativas son apostar por proyectos en los que tienen cabida instituciones y organizaciones externas tanto a nivel local, nacional e internacional favoreciendo de este modo el carácter abierto, tolerante, dialogante...», afirma el director.
El Instituto de Salas mira al futuro con optimismo y sin duda los 12.000 euros con los que está dotado el galardón servirán para « la mejora de recursos educativos del centro».
Tras el paréntesis de las vacaciones navideñas, el profesorado del IES salense volverá con más fuerza que nunca para seguir trabajando en el camino de la excelencia.
